U.S. Stocks Seek Fifth Consecutive Day of Gains in Abbreviated Trading Session

Ordinarily, noon would be midday for a market day — hence, “Midday Movers.” Alas, although this is still midday, the market will close in about an hour’s time. For that reason, time is of the essence for our quaint little market digest.

That said, the Dow (+0.66%) is now leading among the large cap indexes, trailed by the S&P 500(+0.44%) and Nasdaq (+0.42%). The Russell 2000 (+0.42%) is now in lockstep with those big indexes.

Zooming out, about 60% of U.S. issues are on the rise today. We’ll zoom in on the 20 best and worst-performing equities with at least a $2 billion market cap:

Heading towards the back half of the day, Falcon’s Beyond Global (+15.3%) is in close competition with Endeavour Silver Corp (+15.2%) for the market’s top spot. Falcon’s was on our most recent moving stock list after its earnings and talks of a new partnership with game studio CD PROJEKT RED, the creators of Cyberpunk 2077. Meanwhile, Endeavour is rising in sympathy with silver, which was up 3% at last glance.

At the bottom of the market, two familiar biotech names are leading swings lower: Jyong Biotech (-9.3%) and Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals (-8.4%), both of which are repeat members of our midday movers section. There isn’t any specific reason that appears to be promoting today’s move lower, just recent news — which we’ve covered in our most recent Stock Market Today columns.

Our abbreviated market day has finally begun. The small cap-focused Russell 2000 (+0.82%) is taking point this morning, trailed by the large cap indexes. The Nasdaq (+0.38%), S&P 500 (+0.23%), and Dow (+0.20%) are up for the moment.
